DATA WAREHOUSE ARCHITECT

Datafruit is looking for an experienced data warehouse architect to design data platforms that hold up as data volumes, users, and business needs grow. If you enjoy making well-reasoned architecture decisions and helping a team deliver them well, we'd like to hear from you.

As an architect, you're a trusted partner to our clients. You help them choose the right approach, shape the structure of their data warehouse, and make sure the solution is still maintainable years from now. You're a hands-on practitioner: you design, and you write code yourself when it's needed. You have strong analytical and technical thinking, can explain complex trade-offs clearly to both developers and business leaders, and you value accuracy, consistency, and reliability. What you'll do:

  • Design and document the logical and technical architecture of data warehouses and data platforms
  • Lead dimensional modelling decisions: fact table grain, conformed dimensions, and slowly changing dimension strategies
  • Develop and maintain our dbt and modelling standards (layered architecture, naming conventions, testing), along with the automated checks that enforce them
  • Advise clients on platform and tooling choices and help them build a realistic delivery roadmap
  • Guide and support the development team through code reviews, design discussions, and mentoring
  • Organise teamwork on projects and own the technical quality of the solution
  • Contribute directly to development, especially on complex data models and pipelines

You'll fit well if you have:

  • Several years of experience building data warehouses or data platforms, including in an architect or lead developer role
  • Deep expertise in dimensional modelling (Kimball or similar) and experience with large-scale data models
  • Strong SQL and experience optimising query and model performance
  • Experience with dbt or comparable transformation tools, or with ETL tools such as SSIS or ODI
  • Working knowledge of Python
  • Experience with Git, code reviews, and CI/CD-based workflows
  • Experience with at least one data warehouse platform (e.g. PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, OpenText Analytics Database / Vertica)
  • The ability to lead projects and coordinate team work
  • The ability to explain technical choices to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • A genuine desire to learn, develop, and share knowledge with the team
  • Good command of Estonian and English

Nice to have:

  • Cloud platform experience (Azure, AWS or GCP), plus Docker and orchestration (Airflow, Dagster, etc.)
  • Broader technical background in database technologies, networking, and operating systems
  • Experience with BI tools such as Tableau or Power BI and building dashboards
  • Machine learning or AI project experience
  • Experience as a project manager or analyst on BI or data warehouse projects
  • Domain expertise in areas like finance, sales, marketing, production, churn, or fraud detection
  • Experience with data analysis and creation of reports/dashboards
